Starting the Sleeves

In order to decide how many stitches to cast on for the sleeves, I have to try on the jacket.
Whoa! This is more of a jacket length than the other ones I have made, due to the non-wool yarn, It is lovely feeling, but it weighs more and is longer than others due to the cotton content. The neckline looks huge at this point, but when I add the neck sections and collar it will bring it up closer. I was thinking that a button band would be added but it is already wider than usual, so nix on that idea. Instead I will incorporate a button hole in the neck section and add a wonderful button. It won't be chokingly close, but will keep the jacket from flying open.

Baktus for Mary

Well it turns out that I have lots of not wool yarns but they all seem to be summery colors, not moody fall/winter shades. The best I can imagine would work for you is  this silk/viscose with the blue/white cotton/viscose.

For a bit more white-contrast this cotton/rayon Cotton Twist is nice and has a bit of shine against the pebbly turq white yarn.Or the Cotton Twist with hand dyed cotton/rayons in pastel. Any combo would be Springy, which is what happens with not-wool colors in my purchases. Does any of this appeal to you?
